How to reach redemption? One day a river reached a swamp. The swamp asked it, “How is it that you are limpid and pure?” The river answered, “I am limpid because I passed everything I reached and did not take anything with me.” The swamp asked, “Why?” The river said, “I belong to the ocean and I will reach it. It was because of the ocean that I did not take any impurity with me. I left the past in the past. You can also reach the purity of the ocean if you leave the past and come with me.” The past and its bad memories make us like the swamp and take away our strength for moving towards God.
